Day 10: Sharing – The Game Changer

Audience interaction guarantees a strong line of communication. This shift in performance protocol stirs up the roles of performer and experiencer. By shaping experience through design and then prompting an interactive scenario, it will act as creative fuel; the chemistry of the people will power the installation. People taking in a new environment with new stimuli and a new challenge in which actions are directly impacting the outcome – this can only bring the unexpected and compelling. Are we able to create the illusion of a meta-life or a fantasy for you to fly?
The process is essentially the same: music is performed, people listen, and the setting creates atmosphere. The major change occurs in the designation of the experiencer role. Currently, they are excluded in the production of the art, silenced as true communicators.
Our design will remove the 4th wall, destroy the seats, and section the “stage” into several rooms. Everyone is a performer and participant, contributing and communicating – actions create equal or opposite reactions. This sharing of power between the performer and experiencers allows for the creative process to produce more “unexpected” outcomes. In sharing some of our canvas as performers with people who come to experience, we will gain so much more.
