Day 13: Therapy for the first global culture

Our future performance design is built on the rise and fall of pressure. The underlying story or narrative is also a key element to guide the participants. These 2 features: pressure and narrative will be the shield against loss of focus. The shift of tension and release over time will be assigned to keeping people engaged
|[ Pressure x Narrative = Focus ]|
The largest shift in paradigm is in the visual perspective. In the tier 1 design (99.9% of all classical music performance) the viewer/listener watches people play instruments. In our current tier 2 performance, the visual is supplemented by film, dance, art, and audience participation which is created by a team of people. In our vision for tier 3 design, the audience will be mobile, immersed and actively producing the art and music.
[Socially Engaged Art Practice (aka “SEAP”)]
This is it. “SEAP” is the bigger answer to the world’s big challenge – globalization. Since the dawn of the internet, people are connecting at exponential rates: sharing, communicating and birthing a new global culture. The internet is the start of a major transformation in which we will all be a part of – the homogenization of our world. There will be massive obstacles to overcome, but the arts is the universal therapy or treatment to heal us as we grow.
Socially Engaged Art Practice will do an amazing job of solving the growing pains and side effects of globalization. This is because this art form engages and trains. It forces people to think, persist, to work together, to trust, to help and to adapt. This is the arts therapy to guide and condition the world’s first global culture.
