Day 4: Reverie

PreviousNext

“Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.” – Henry David Thoreau

What is the ideal? What would the perfect moment be like – a utopian fantasy. A freeze-frame where we are absorbed in a bubble of ecstasy – a wake-walking lucid dream emulating the eternal bliss of heaven. What would that be like if someone could create and customize an endless reverie just for you? More importantly, how can it be achieved through experience curation and design?

Looking at cognitive science, technology and the arts, the potential for a rhapsodic orgy of design is limitless. Just play with the idea that if done with enough knowledge and creative power – a curated experience could produce an orgasmic high. An overdose of your own positive hormones (DEOS) seeping into every nanometer of your mind – shifting your awareness of time and space. What would this mean for you? What would this mean for the artist?

Biologically, a regular dosage of your own happy chemicals could be the organic cocktail making you stronger, live longer, and be healthier. Or is this the arrival of the next artistic renaissance where technology amplifies the power and reach of the artist even further to the status of healer? Not just a music/art therapy for disorders and the diseased, but everyone. Just think…Bipolar, Alzheimer’s Disease, Depression and any other frontal lobe disorders could be fully-treated. Perfectly healthy, but need a pick-me-up? We’ve got an experience designed just for you.

Is this overly optimistic? Yes. Unrealistic? Hmm, maybe I’m just dreaming…
